The Tallboy is the dark horse of Santa Cruz’s lineup. It gets overlooked by riders who think they want a longer travel bike because it’s more “aggressive.” Santa Cruz gave the Tallboy a 65.5-degree head tube angle and 430mm chainstays with a +/- 10mm flip chip to ensure that any rider can get rowdy on even the mellowest of trails. Keeping the pedaling platform solid with the lower-link VPP system, the engineers gave the Tallboy the geometry it needed to turn any trail into an uphill or downhill playground.

The Tallboy C R brings Santa Cruz’s streamlined carbon frame to the trail-ready R build kit. If this is your first taste of carbon, it likely won’t be your last. The carbon frame shaves 1.5lbs of weight and offers a stiffer, more compliant ride. Add in FOX front and rear suspension, a 12-speed drivetrain, and a dropper post, and you have a 120mm travel bike that is ready to ride any trail you want.
