Athlete Series: Downhill Bike Goals by Erin Kromis

My name is Erin Kromis and I’m a 16 year old downhill mountain biker. My biggest goal is to become a professional downhill mountain biker and compete on the World Cup circuit. Throughout my season, I spend most of my time training in order to reach my goals. In season and off season training tends to look a little different for me depending on my traveling schedule. During the race season, I train 5 to 6 days a week. Two of those days, I do a pedal ride in order to increase my endurance for my race runs. Depending on how I feel, I may also ride downhill on my pedal days. The other 3 to 4 days in my week, I ride downhill. Every day looks different on the mountain. Some days I train the same trail for five hours, focusing on making up time in different sections. I’ve found that the best way to advance and get better is through consistency. The more I ride, the more confidence I have throwing myself down the steep sections of all my races. When I travel, which is often, I try to stay on a similar schedule as to not mess up the flow I have going. No matter what, the most important thing is that I’m riding my bike.
